Doug Parsons

Director

Doug guides Fauquier County confidently into the future as economic development director. Equipped with 15 years of experience as an economic development director at the county level, Doug is well-versed in the art of the deal. His 31-year track record working in economic development, for chambers of commerce, and at the state, regional, and local levels positions Fauquier County for long-term success. His professional experience includes grant writing and project management. Doug is a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) through National Development Council. When he’s not energizing the business community, he’s hunting and fishing in the mountains or hanging out with family and friends.

Beverly Cooper

Business Coordinator

A Fauquier County resident for over 45 years and a county government team member for 25, Beverly connects the dots for businesses of all sizes. As business coordinator, Beverly puts her local knowledge into play to recruit, support, and expand the horizons of local firms. From site selection to zoning, human resources to incentives, Beverly has a solution suited to every business. Cooking, reading, gardening, and making memories with her grandchildren are some of Beverly’s favorite pastimes.

Donna Comer

Workforce Coordinator

Donna brings a “glass half full” perspective to her role as Fauquier County’s workforce coordinator, which is a dual role shared with Laurel Ridge Community College. Providing employment and upskilling opportunities for local residents is Donna’s passion project. As workforce coordinator, she supplies employers with training resources and leverages the Fauquier County-Laurel Ridge Community College partnership to provide in-demand skills training. Outside of the office, Donna savors family time, brisk walks, and a well-earned glass of wine.

Laura Torpy

Tourism Coordinator

While Laura has lived in Fauquier for over 25 years, as Fauquier’s tourism coordinator, she looks at her surroundings with fresh eyes. As an ambassador for Fauquier’s “it factor,” her community pride runs deep. Laura’s strengths in event management, marketing, business development, and parks and recreation make her a tourism dynamo. While she loves touting Fauquier’s tourism attributes, she also loves to travel. Family trips to the beach, the mountains, and local wineries and breweries satisfy her wanderlust.

Lauren Perez

Administrative Assistant

With creative problem-solving at the heart of her approach, Lauren is an administrative assistant extraordinaire. This 22-year Fauquier County resident brings her strengths in sales, planning, hospitality, and property management to her forward-facing role with the department. A mother of five, Lauren is an expert at the art of the juggle. In her downtime, Lauren loves lounging on the beach, spending time with her husband, and watching her kids play together.
